Bob Ehrlich Defeats Brian Murphy in Maryland Elections 2010

Bob Ehrlich Defeats Brian Murphy in Maryland Elections 2010:

Former Gov. Robert Ehrlich has defeated business investor Brian Murphy in the Maryland Republican primary for governor.

Ehrlich’s victory Tuesday sets up a rematch in November against Democratic incumbent Gov. Martin O’Malley, who easily won his primary race against two long-shot candidates.

Murphy, a 33-year-old political novice, was largely been unheard of until Palin endorsed him last month on her Facebook page. Murphy ran to the right of Ehrlich, who is a moderate Republican.

Ehrlich ran on a pro-business platform. The former governor says he wants to cut a 1 percent increase in the sales tax that O’Malley pushed through in 2007. Ehrlich also is pledging not to raise taxes.
